Improvements · Case 08 · fixed in the book; rule proposal P3
08 · "want it" runs together in the American voice
Source: Second-Hand Dragons (af_heart render, 2026-10-19), the dragon's catchphrase in ch03, ch05, ch07 and ch10. Found by the automatic listener: both Whisper models heard all four as "I wanted on the record".
I noticed that. I want it on the record that I noticed it, on the second Thursday, long before anything else happened.
Heard: "I wanted on the record". af_heart links want it into one word (American flapped t), so the sentence sounds like a past tense and the listener loses the meaning. The same voice says "I want that on the record" (ch09) cleanly, because that starts with a consonant.
Fix (applied to the manuscript): "Let the record show that I noticed it…". Same voice for the dragon, no want it.
before = the passage as first rendered; after = with the fix. heard = the clip from ch03 at 3:54.
Status: fixed in the book; rule proposal P3 (watch for "want it", "get it", "put it" before a vowel in af_heart).
